HORSES NEED HELP URGENTLY

Three horses had to be removed from a property the last week of January because of their extremely poor living conditions.
The gelding picture above (and top the right) had to be euthanized because his hooves had grown so long he was not able to walk or stand for more than a few minutes at a time. He was an 11 year-old Paint who had been standing in more than THREE FEET of feces and urine for most of the past three years. The only reason he survived this long is that instead of lying down to relieve the excruciating pain, he would lean against the pile of manure in his stall long enough to eat whatever hay landed on top of the pile. His flanks and belly were caked with bacteria-breeding filth. A sad end to what should have been a better life.

The horse pictured immediately to the right is believed to be a Missouri Foxtrotter. This little mare had not belonged to the abusive owner very long, so other than the filthy matted coat, her weight was acceptable. She has been placed with a loving family and has a good shot at a much better life.

The third horse - bottom two photos on right - is a different Paint from the one that was euthanized. This horse is a 9 year-old mare who has a good shot at making it. She’s underweight and in need of dental care. Her hooves were also extremely long, but have been successfully trimmed and the good news it looks like she will make a full recovery.
She’s ready to vaccinated and wormed, and with consistent hoofcare and good nutrition should do very well. She is very sweet but will need training once her health has stabilized.
We are seeking an immediate foster home for this horse, as well as donations that will be dedicated to her care.
For want a trim, the horse was lost ...
It’s a poor paraphrase of a famous proverb attributed to Ben Franklin -- but true nonetheless.
Please help us save this little guy’s stablemates.
